Seoul National University Completes Eco-Friendly Water Quality Pilot with Growith

Growith, a regional startup collaborating with IITD at Seoul National University, announced that it has successfully completed a pilot operation of its eco-friendly water quality improvement solution at Jahayeon Pond, located on the university’s Gwanak Campus.

Growith, led by CEO Kang Myungjun, was selected as an outstanding team at the 2025 Regional Startup Solverthon Competition, hosted by IITD.

During the pilot operation, Growith showcased its startup item PaDO, an eco-friendly algal bloom removal technology that does not use chemical agents.

PaDO is designed in the form of an autonomous fountain capable of water-surface control, enabling it to measure water pollution levels and perform algal bloom removal tasks.

As a result of the pilot operation, PaDO continuously monitored the water quality of Jahayeon Pond from June 16 (Monday) to June 18 (Wednesday), identifying and removing areas affected by algal blooms.

Growith stated, “Through this pilot operation at Seoul National University, we were able to verify the real-world applicability of PaDO,” adding, “It was a valuable opportunity to not only validate performance in an actual environment but also to clearly identify areas for improvement in terms of user convenience and system stability.”

IITD of Seoul National University evaluated the collaboration as highly meaningful, noting that the pilot operation helped establish a practical cooperation model between regional startup teams and the university.
